USCIS has recently updated the count of H-1B
and H-2B petitions
for the fiscal year 2010 employment.
As of September 18, 2009, USCIS has received approximately 46,000 H-1B cap
subject petitions and 20,000 petitions qualifying for the advanced degree cap
exemption. USCIS said that it will continue to accept both cap subject petitions
and advanced degree petitions until a sufficient number of H-1B petitions have
been received to reach the statutory limits, taking into account the fact that
some of these petitions may be denied, revoked, or withdrawn.
Currently, USCIS is accepting petitions for the 2nd half of fiscal year 2009 and
the 1st half of fiscal year 2010. As of September 11, 2009, USCIS has received
18,134 H-2B petitions towards the first half of the fiscal year 2010 employment.
