| USCIS issues a Guidance Memo on IMBRA |
| August 02, 2006 |
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has issued a guidance memo for
field officers regarding the amendments made by the International Marriage Broker
Regulation Act (IMBRA) to sections 214(d) and 214(r) of the INA. The Interoffice
Memorandum sets forth statutory requirements and adjudication standards.
IMBRA provides that a petitioner for a K nonimmigrant visa for an alien fiancé(e)
(K-1) or alien spouse (K-3) must submit with his or her Form I-129F information
on any criminal convictions of the petitioner for some of the specified crimes.
