CBP Recommends Travelers to Prepare For Busy Weekend

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection in Buffalo, N.Y. is reminding travelers planning trips across the border into the United States to make sure they have the proper documents and to anticipate heavy traffic. During March, the Easter holiday observance and spring break occur during the same timeframe and could result in heavy traffic entering the United States. CBP officials want to remind the traveling public that there are a number of steps that can be taken to facilitate their arrival into the United States.
USCIS reaches Special Immigrant Translator Cap for FY 2007

USCIS announced that it has received enough petitions requesting special immigrant status from Afghan and Iraqi translators to meet this year’s visa cap and will stop accepting new filings after November 17, 2006.
12-month extension of TPS for nationals of Burundi

Those who have already been granted TPS are eligible to live and work in the United States for an additional 12 months and continue to maintain their status. DHS also automatically extended the validity of EADs held by eligible Burundians for an additional six months until May 2, 2007.

One year TPS extension for El Salvador

Notice published in Federal Register designates a 12-month extension of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for nationals of El Salvador until September 9, 2007 and automatic extension of EADs for eligible El Salvadorans for 6 months until March 9, 2007.
Reminder for Hondurans and Nicaraguans eligible for TPS

Failure to file a TPS re-registration application by June 1 will result in the withdrawal of TPS benefits, including employment authorization and protection from removal from the United States.

TPS Extension for El Salvador, Honduras, and Nicaragua

The extension covers approximately 225,000 Salvadorans, 75,000 Hondurans, and 4,000 Nicaraguans and will expire on September 9, 2007 for El Salvador and on July 5, 2007 for Honduras and Nicaragua.
