DOS Transitions to Online Form DS-160 for K Visa Applications

The US Department of State has announced that effective immediately, all K visa applicants are required to complete the DS-160 Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application. The DS-160 replaces forms DS-156, DS-156K, and DS-230. DOS has also announced exceptions to the mandatory use of the DS-160 for certain K visa cases already in process at a U.S. embassy or consulate during the transition period.
Form I129F (K3spouse of U.S. Citizens only) transferred by USCIS

Effective October 23, 2006, USCIS National Benefits Center has begun transferring K3 petitions to the California Service Center (CSC) and the Vermont Service Center (VSC), depending on the location of the related Form I130, Petition for Alien Relative.
USCIS to issue RFEs for over 10,000 Fiancé(e) petitions

In order to comply with provisions of the International Marriage Brokers Regulation Act of 2005 (IMBRA), USCIS will need to issue “Requests for Evidence” for more than 10,000 Alien Fiancé(e) Petitions (Form I129F) currently being held at USCIS Service Centers.
DOS returns 1,100 Fiancé(e) petitions

DOS has announced that it has returned to the NVC approximately 1,100 K1 petitions that were filed on or after March 6, 2006, due to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) failure to collect criminal background information.
USCIS invites public comments on information collection in Fiance(e) petitions

USCIS has published a notice inviting comments from the public and affected agencies concerning the proposed collection of information in Petitions for alien fiance (Form I129F), for review and clearance in accordance with the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995.
