H2B Cap Count Update

USCIS has updated the count of H2B visa petitions received and counted towards the H2B cap for the 1st half of fiscal year 2013 employment. As of November 2, 2012, USCIS has approved approximately 7,916 H2B beneficiaries for the 1st half of FY 2013.

USCIS has updated the count of H2B visa petitions received and counted towards the H2B cap for the 1st half of fiscal year 2013 employment. As of October 19, 2012, USCIS has approved approximately 5,314 H2B beneficiaries for the 1st half of FY 2013.
USCIS announces launching of Spanish-language I-9 Central on it’s website

USCIS has announced the launching of Spanish-language version of I-9 Central on the uscis.gov website. I-9 Central is an online resource center designed to provide information and assistance related the Form I-9, Employee Eligibility Verification. U.S. employers must, under law, verify the identity and employment authorization for every worker hired, regardless of the employee’s immigration status. To comply with the law, employers must complete and retain Form I-9.

USCIS has updated the count of H2B visa petitions received and counted towards the H2B cap for the 2nd half of fiscal year 2012 employment and the 1st half of fiscal year 2013 employment. As of September 28, 2012, USCIS has approved approximately, 28,159 H2B beneficiaries for the 2nd half of FY 2012 and 5,314 H2B beneficiaries for the 1st half of FY 2013.
TPS Extended for Haitians

USCIS has announced that Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano has extended Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haiti for an additional 18 months. The extension of TPS for Haiti will begin January 23, 2013, and end July 22, 2014. Current Haitian TPS beneficiaries, who have continuously resided in the United States since January 12, 2011, and seek to extend their TPS status, must re-register during the 60-day re-registration period that runs through November 30, 2012, if they wish to maintain their TPS. The extension would also allow TPS re-registrants to apply for a new Employment Authorization Document (EAD). Additionally, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is also extending the suspension of certain requirements for F-1 nonimmigrant Haitian students.
USCIS Announces New Filing Option on behalf of Canadian TN Nonimmigrants

USCIS has announced that starting October 1, 2012, it will begin accepting the Form I-129, Petition for Nonimmigrant Worker, filed on behalf of Canadian citizens who are outside the United States and seeking classification as a TN nonimmigrant. Canadian citizens will continue to have the option of applying to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) for TN classification in conjunction with an application for TN admission to the United States
H2B Cap Count Update

USCIS has updated the count of H2B visa petitions received and counted towards the H2B cap for the 2nd half of fiscal year 2012 employment and the 1st half of fiscal year 2013 employment. As of September 21, 2012, USCIS has approved approximately, 28,114 H2B beneficiaries for the 2nd half of FY 2012 and 4,132 H2B beneficiaries for the 1st half of FY 2013.
Extension of TPS for Haiti

USCIS has announced that Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano has extended Haiti’s Temporary Protected Status (TPS) and that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will publish a notice in the Federal Register announcing this decision next week. USCIS has also announced that the 60-day re-registration period for current Haiti TPS beneficiaries will begin on the day the Federal Register notice is published, and individuals who have not continuously resided in the US since January 12, 2011 will not be eligible.

USCIS has updated the count of H2B visa petitions received and counted towards the H2B cap for the 2nd half of fiscal year 2012 employment and the 1st half of fiscal year 2013 employment. As of September 14, 2012, USCIS has approved approximately, 28,093 H2B beneficiaries for the 2nd half of FY 2012 and 3,561 H2B beneficiaries for the 1st half of FY 2013.
