H2B Cap Count Update

USCIS has updated the count of H2B visa petitions received and counted towards the H2B cap for the fiscal year 2014 employment. As of January 17, 2014, USCIS has approved approximately 17,590 beneficiaries for the 1st half of FY 2014.
USCIS Announces 63 Countries Whose Nationals are Eligible for H-2A and H-2B Participation

USCIS has announced the list of 63 countries whose nationals are eligible to participate in the H-2A and H-2B Visa programs for the coming year. Each country’s designation is valid for one year from January 18, 2014. The notification, however, does not affect the status of beneficiaries who are currently in the United States in H-2A or H-2B status unless they apply to change or extend their status.

USCIS has updated the count of H2B visa petitions received and counted towards the H2B cap for the fiscal year 2014 employment. As of January 10, 2014, USCIS has approved approximately 14,572 beneficiaries for the 1st half of FY 2014.

USCIS has updated the count of H2B visa petitions received and counted towards the H2B cap for the fiscal year 2014 employment. As of December 16, 2013, USCIS has approved approximately 10,869 beneficiaries for the 1st half of FY 2014.

USCIS has updated the count of H2B visa petitions received and counted towards the H2B cap for the fiscal year 2014 employment. As of December 6, 2013, USCIS has approved approximately 9,847 beneficiaries for the 1st half of FY 2014.
FY 2014 U Visa Cap Reached

USCIS has announced that it has approved the statutory maximum 10,000 petitions for U-1 visa status for FY 2014 and will now resume issuing U visas only on October 1, 2014, the first day of FY 2015. USCIS will send a letter to all eligible petitioners who are not granted U-1 visas solely due to the cap, notifying them that they are on a waiting list to receive a U visa when visas again become available and what options they have in the interim.

USCIS has updated the count of H2B visa petitions received and counted towards the H2B cap for the fiscal year 2014 employment. As of November 29, 2013, USCIS has approved approximately 9,079 beneficiaries for the 1st half of FY 2014.

USCIS has updated the count of H2B visa petitions received and counted towards the H2B cap for the fiscal year 2014 employment. As of November 15, 2013, USCIS has approved approximately 8,028 beneficiaries for the 1st half of FY 2014.
USCIS Announces Security Enhancement to E-Verify

USCIS has announced a security enhancement to the E-Verify program that will enable USCIS to lock a SSN that appears to have been misused, protecting it from further potential misuse in E-Verify. If an employee attempts to use a locked SSN, E-Verify will generate a “Tentative Nonconfirmation” (TNC). The employee receiving the TNC may contest the finding at a local Social Security Administration field office, and if an SSA field officer confirms that the employee’s identity correctly matches the SSN, the TNC will be converted to “Employment Authorized” status in E-Verify.
