H2B Cap Count Update
October 17, 2013
USCIS has updated the count of H2B visa petitions received and counted towards the H2B cap for the fiscal year 2014 employment. As of October 11, 2013, USCIS has approved approximately 6,238 beneficiaries for the 1st half of FY 2014.
Iraqi Special Immigrant Visa Program Extended
October 11, 2013
USCIS has announced that the passing of a bill by the Congress extending the Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) program for Iraqi nationals who worked for or on behalf of the U.S. government, and signing of the same into law by the President on October 4, 2013, has permitted it to approve petitions or applications for visas or adjustment of status to lawful permanent resident in any Iraqi SIV case that were pending with it or with the Department of State (DOS) when the program expired on September 30, 2013. USCIS may also approve an additional 2,000 cases as long as the initial applications to the DOS Chief of Mission in Iraq are made by December 31, 2013.

USCIS has updated the count of H2B visa petitions received and counted towards the H2B cap for the 2nd half of fiscal year 2013 employment. As of September 27, 2013, USCIS has approved approximately 28,213 beneficiaries for the 2nd half of FY 2013.

USCIS has updated the count of H2B visa petitions received and counted towards the H2B cap for the 2nd half of fiscal year 2013 employment. As of September 20, 2013, USCIS has approved approximately 28,173 beneficiaries for the 2nd half of FY 2013.

USCIS has updated the count of H2B visa petitions received and counted towards the H2B cap for the 2nd half of fiscal year 2013 employment. As of September 13, 2013, USCIS has approved approximately 27,979 beneficiaries for the 2nd half of FY 2013.

USCIS has updated the count of H2B visa petitions received and counted towards the H2B cap for the 2nd half of fiscal year 2013 employment. As of September 6, 2013, USCIS has approved approximately 27,731 beneficiaries for the 2nd half of FY 2013.
U Visa Cap Reached
September 07, 2013
USCIS has announced that it has approved the statutory maximum 10,000 petitions for U visa status for FY 2013. USCIS will continue to accept U-visa petitions and process them in the order in which they are received. USCIS will resume issuing U visas on October 1, 2013, the first day of FY 2014.
USCIS Implements New Identify Verification Tool in Field Offices

USCIS has announced that beginning September 9, 2013, it will employ a new verification tool called Customer Identity Verification (CIV) in its field offices. CIV will allow USCIS to biometrically verify a customerís identity. The process applies only to those who have an interview or receive evidence of an immigration benefit. Under the process, customers will submit fingerprints and photographs when appearing at USCIS offices for interviews or to receive evidence of an immigration benefit.

USCIS has updated the count of H2B visa petitions received and counted towards the H2B cap for the 2nd half of fiscal year 2013 employment. As of August 30, 2013, USCIS has approved approximately 27,649 beneficiaries for the 2nd half of FY 2013.
