| USCIS announced today that it has received a sufficient number of H1B petitions to meet the congressionally mandated cap for fiscal year 2007 (FY 2007). The “final receipt date” for H1B petitions subject to the FY 2007 annual cap was May 26, 2006. |

| The H1B Cap for FY 2007 is on its way to create yet another record. An analysis of the Cap update released by USCIS of numbers available as of May 23, 2006 and May 25, 2006 show that the cap may be reached within the next few days. |

| As of May 12, 2006 USCIS has approved 6,033 petitions that are subject to H1B cap and 28,775 petitions are pending. Under the Advanced Degree Exemption category USCIS has approved 1,392 petitions and another 3,246 are pending. |

| As of April 24, 2006 USCIS has approved 3,907 petitions that are subject to H1B cap and 8,806 petitions are pending. Under the Advanced Degree Exemption category USCIS has approved 898 petitions and another 1,460 are pending. |

| DOS Visa Office Clarifies Policy on Blanket L |

| In response to an inquiry from the DOS Liaison Committee, the Visa Office confirms that an employer who filed a petition for initial blanket L classification prior to June 6, 2005 may continue to bring in blanket qualified workers with only 6 months of qualifying employment. |
