AOS interview is approved
Hi all,
Just want to share our experience with you all and wish you good luck on your AOS or any immigration interview. Here is our case....
I originally was F1 student visa holder who came from Hong Kong. I met my husband on match.com in August 2005. We chatted for couple months then we met in person in November 2005. Things were going well then we decided that I moved to Florida to get to know each other more but how? Getting a F1 student visa was the only way I could enter to the States and stayed for at least five years. I did it and I knew there was a conflict with my intention of coming to the States.
We've been living together since April 2006. We're finally married in November 18, 2008. At that moment, I didn't go to school due to financial problem. I had been worrying about the out of status of my F1 student visa even the visa is still valid until 2011.
2009/3/17 mailed out application I-130, I-131, I-485 & I-765 via USPS Express Mail
2009/3/18 USCIS Jacksonville, FL office received
2009/03/24 Notices of receipt numbers for the above application
2009/3/26 Notice of I-797C
"Biometrics Taken"
2009/4/3 Request for initial Evidence (I-485) regarding the IRS income tax document
2009/04/14 Biometrics taken was done
2009/04/28 We sent out the outstanding information/ document for I-485
2009/5/7 USCIS received the outstanding document
2009/06/2 Notice of "Request for Applicant to appear for initial interview"
2009/07/16 Went for our interview.
Yea, it was such a relief that we finally attended to the interview today. Our appointment was 8:30am but we went there at 8:00am. We waited for about 50 minutes (actually we went there early).
You won't believe how fast it was - it just took 10 minutes. The officer was very young and looked cool. Once we took the seats, the officer said "our interview will be short today, ok". We loved to hear that. He only asked some questions that I answered on my application such as if I engaged any criminal, being arrested, had drug and so on. All my answers were just 'say no'.
Then he asked when and where we met. Greg answered it quickly. The one when we were engaged that Greg didn't really remember. He kept telling the officer how long we communicated and have been living together but the officer wasn't interested in those stories at all. He just wanted to know our engagement date. So, I just told him we got engaged on 2008/02/04. He smiled then said "see, always girls remember this date...". I told him "oh yea, because I was the one who got the ring". He laughed....
He was just curious that we got married three days after Greg got divorced. I know, it's so strange... but then Greg cleared thing up said they're separated since 2001. Due to financial and mortgage issue, they didn't final the divorce until we decided to get married. The officer didn't have anything to ask then.
He just double checked the required document and said he got everything in the file. Then he told us the green card will be issued to me in couple months. That's it.... Greg was trying to ask him about our travel plan in November, he's kind of rush... just said "No problem, you will receive your green card before that. You can go anywhere..."
We're so happy for the process and result - no pain at all. The officer even didn't ask me about anything of my F1 student visa. He also didn't take back my "Travel Parole", I-94 and work permit. If I can get the green card before our trip, I will return those document to them.
This is my case and I wish you all luck with your interview.
