Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has announced the termination of travel restrictions placed on the Chad.
The removal of the travel restrictions follows a Presidential Proclamation, based on DHS assessment, announcing that Chad has improved its identity-management and information sharing practices sufficiently to meet the baseline security standard of the United States. The termination becomes effective April 13, 2018.
As a result of the termination of the travel ban, nationals of Chad would be able to again receive visas for travel to the United States.
Background
In September 2017, travel restrictions were placed on Chad, along with Iran, Libya, Syria, Yemen, and Somalia, under the Presidential Proclamation titled “Enhancing Vetting Capabilities and Processes for Detecting Attempted Entry into the United States by Terrorists or other Public-Safety Threats”. Under the proclamation, restrictions and limitations were placed on nationals of Chad in securing B-1, B-2, B-1/B-2, immigrant visas and diversity lottery visa.
