Healthcare Workers May Now Request Expedited EAD Processing

Qualifying healthcare workers with a pending Employment Authorization Document (EAD) renewal application may now submit an expedite request for speedy adjudication of the I-765 EAD renewal application.

An applicant may request expedited processing of EAD renewal if:

  • he or she is a qualifying health care worker, and
  • his or her EAD will expire within 30 days or has already expired.

Note: The applicant should review pages 7-9 of the DHS advisory memorandum issued on August 10, 2021 to determine if he or she would qualify as a healthcare worker.

To request an expedite, the applicant must call the USCIS Contact Center at 800-375-5283 (TTY 800-767-1833). While requesting an expedite, the applicant must be prepared to provide evidence that he or she is a qualifying healthcare worker. If the evidence provided is insufficient, USCIS may not expedite the Form I-765. If USCIS agrees to expedite the pending Form I-765, it will prioritize adjudication of the form and issue a decision faster than published processing times.
