FY 2024 H-1B Cap Reached, USCIS Completes H-1B Lottery

USCIS has received enough H-1B cap registrations during the initial registration period to reach the FY 2024 H-1B regular cap and H-1B master’s cap. USCIS has also conducted the H-1B lottery and has notified employers with selected registrations that they are eligible to file an H-1B cap petition for the beneficiary named in the selected registration. Only petitioners with selected registrations may file the FY 2024 H-1B cap petitions, and only for the beneficiary named in the H-1B registration selection notice.

To find out about the status of the H-1B registration, the registrant needs to login to his online account. One of the following statuses will be shown against each registration in the H-1B registrant’s online account:

  • Selected: The registration is selected and the petitioner may file the FY 2024 H-1B cap petition on behalf of the Beneficiary.
  • Submitted: The registration remains in consideration for selection.
Note: Registrations that are shown as ‘Submitted’ will, unless subsequently invalidated, remain in consideration for selection in any subsequent H-1B lottery for FY 2024.
  • Denied: The registration was denied because multiple registrations were submitted by or on behalf of the same registrant for the same beneficiary. If the registration is denied as a duplicate registration, all registrations submitted by the registrant for the beneficiary for the fiscal year are invalid.
  • Invalidated-Failed Payment: A registration was submitted but the payment method was declined, not reconciled, disputed, or otherwise invalid.
  • H-1B cap petitions based on a valid, selected registration may be filed with USCIS beginning April 1, 2023. The petitions must be properly filed at the correct service center and within the filing period indicated on the registration selection notice. Online filing is not available for H-1B petitions. A printed copy of the applicable registration selection notice must also be filed with the H-1B cap petition.

We will continue to monitor developments related to the FY 2024 H-1B Cap filings and will keep our readers updated.
