USCIS has updated the count of H1B visa petitions received and counted towards the H1B cap for the fiscal year 2013 employment. As of June 01, 2012, USCIS has received approximately 55,600 H1B cap-subject petitions and 18,700 petitions for foreign nationals with advanced degrees, meaning that now only about 9,400 and 1,300 numbers are left for the H-1B regular cap and masterís cap, respectively.

Considering the rate at which the H-1B cap numbers are progressing, it is anticipated that the cap will most likely be filled up very soon. Once the H-1B cap for FY 2013 is met, employers will have to wait until April 1, 2013 to be able to file again for a start date no earlier than October 1, 2013!
