The U.S. Mission in Italy has announced that beginning July 15th 2013, the U.S. Embassy in Rome, and U.S. Consulates in Florence, Milan and Naples, are transitioning to a new appointment, payment and passport return system for visa applicants in Italy.

The Mission has also announced that it is currently not possible to schedule visa appointments for any date later than July 12. Applicants who need to apply for a visa and have travel plans before July 18th have been advised to make appointments and pay their visa fees before June 28th, 2013. Beginning June 29th and through July 14th, the U.S. Mission in Italy will not process new appointment requests. Visa applicants who have paid the U. S. visa application fee through BNL should apply for an appointment by June 28, though the actual appointment can be scheduled for a date as late as July 12. Applicants have also been advised that if they are unable to schedule an appointment at their preferred date and post, they should check for appointment availability at the other visa processing posts in Italy.

BNL Bank will stop collecting visa application fee payments on June 29th.  However, appointments made and fees paid at the BNL bank before June 29th will be interviewed and processed under the current system during the June 29th - July 12th period.

Visa appointment scheduling will resume on July 15th under the new appointment system and scheduling a visa interview in Italy for dates beginning July 15, 2013 will not be possible until the new appointment system has been fully implemented. The U.S. Mission in Italy will soon specific details of the new appointment processing system.
