On 2 October 2008, the United States will begin accepting applications for the 2010 Diversity Visa Lottery (DV-2010) -- otherwise known as the Green Card Lottery. The application submission period will end on 1 December 2008.
If you are a citizen of a country with low levels of immigration into the US, it is possible to obtain a permanent residence visa which will allow you to live and work in America if you are chosen through the lottery. 55,000 Diversity Visas will be made available through the Green Card Lottery.
The application process is fairly straightforward. However, it's important not to make any mistakes on your submission; otherwise the application will not be considered in the selection process.
